Soon after, cancellation of OBC certificates by Calcutta High Court since 2010, the social media split into two section, one says it’s a deliberate attempt to politicise OBC issues, another say that CM Mamata Banerjee must adhere to the decision of Calcutta High Court, as OBC reservation in West Bengal had not followed the provisions of National Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993. In this regard, team Jansamwaad had sought opinion from Kiran Kumar Gowd (AIOBCSA, President) who said “We have consistently advocated for conducting a caste survey in West Bengal and increasing reservations for OBCs. The current OBC reservation pattern in West Bengal is unacceptable and problematic. Without further delay, the Mamata Government must take action, conduct a caste survey, and increase reservations for Hindu OBCs.”
