On 29th of June, the country shook with joy and happiness as India lifted its second T-20 World Cup trophy. The wait of 14 years got over, as India lifted this trophy 14 years back in 2007 under captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
This world cup has many highlights, as India remain undefeated throughout the tournament and in the last it beats South Africa by 7 runs under captaincy of Rohit Sharma. The bowling of Jasprit Bumrah, catch of Surya Kumar Yadav, batting of Virat Kohli and captaincy of Rohit Sharma was point of discussion.
The world cup took emotional turn when players from both sides started crying, the only difference is that India has happy tears and South Africa has sad tears. The Hardik Pandya started crying as this whole journey was very emotional for him because he was targeted by the crowd for his bad form. The tournament also ended with the retirement of three notable players from T-20 format Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja.
The cricket in India is celebrated as festivals as so many emotions are attached with it, as it is a part of colonial legacy but now it has taken an indigenous form. With the introduction of Indian Premier League (IPL), it has given opportunities for Cricketers of World and India to showcase their talent. The introduction of IPL also increased competition among Indian cricketers and improved the standard of Indian Cricket also.
Though, Indian Cricket Team still needs some reform, the BCCI head should be from cricketing background also it should have representation from every strata so that individuals from marginalised and vulnerable section can also become part of mainstream cricket.
