The undefeated Wrestler of Paris Olympic Vinesh was disqualified from 50 kg weight category at Paris Olympic 2024. This news has shattered the dreams of Vinesh’s Mother, Vinesh and entire Indians. Vinesh was about to create history by becoming first female wrestler to compete in Finals of Olympics. But Vinesh was disqualified because she was 100 gram overweight from her category.
The news had shocked the entire world and also created huge debate over Olympic rules, weight cut. Vinesh is ranked World No.1 in 53kg Wrestling but she was not allowed to compete for 53 kg because Antim Panghal has directly qualified by winning bronze medal at world championship. Vinesh urged Wrestling Federation of India to have a bout between her and Antim but it could not happen and Vinesh had to wrestle in 50 kg category. Eventually, she became overweight by end of this Olympic.
After disqualification, Vinesh announced her retirement from the wrestling. On X she wrote! “Maa! I lost and Wrestling won! Your dreams and my courage shattered. I do not have more Strength. Goodbye Wrestling 2001-2024!”
