SC upheld verdict on Article 370

On December 11, the five judge bench of Supreme Court headed by CJI DY Chandrachud came with its final verdict on article 370. It had upheld the abrogation of article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir. CJI had also asked centre to conduct election in the J&K by 30 September, 2024. Article 370 which had provided special status of J&K and permitted the state to have its own constitution. in 2019, article 370 abrograted from Indian constitution by parliament and territory of J&K got divided into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Since, then the people of Jammu and Kashmir are demanding that statehood should return to J&K. The centre had not given any date for statehood of J&K but it had affirmed that statehood return soon to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
