
Good Governance Day in India is observed on December 25th each year to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This day was established in 2014 to honor Vajpayee’s contributions to the nation and to promote the values of good governance in India.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a prominent political figure and a respected leader, served as the Prime Minister of India three times. His tenure was marked by various initiatives aimed at fostering good governance, economic development, and national unity.
On Good Governance Day, the government, non-governmental organizations, and various institutions organize events and activities to create awareness about the importance of good governance. Seminars, workshops, and discussions are conducted to highlight the principles of transparency, accountability, efficiency, and responsiveness in governance.
The day also serves as an occasion to recognize and award government officials and organizations that have excelled in implementing good governance practices. It encourages a commitment to ethical governance and the efficient delivery of public services.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, the distinguished Union Minister of State, graced the launch and inauguration ceremony of Good Governance Day at North Block, New Delhi. On this auspicious occasion, he unveiled three noteworthy features on the iGOT Karmayogi Platform: My iGOT, Blended Programs, and Curated Programs.
The My iGOT feature represents a significant advancement, delivering targeted training courses directly to the individual officer’s homepage. This approach is meticulously designed to address the unique capacity-building needs outlined in the Capacity-Building Plan for their respective Ministries/Departments. The objective is to provide a highly personalized, focused, and targeted capacity-building experience, fostering an ideal alignment between individual and organizational learning requirements.
It is noteworthy that the iGOT Karmayogi Platform has already garnered the participation of more than 28 lakh users, offering a diverse array of about 830 high-quality e-learning courses. The introduction of these new features underscores a commitment to continuous improvement in individual and organizational learning, contributing to the advancement of governance practices in our esteemed nation.
