Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Saturday that Dalits, OBCs, and tribals have been the primary recipients of his government’s pro-poor initiatives. He emphasized that the most significant accomplishment in the past decade has been uplifting 25 crore individuals out of poverty.
Addressing the audience during the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony for 1.3 lakh houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) through a video conference, Modi highlighted the importance of home ownership for the underprivileged. “For any impoverished person, owning a house is a guarantee of a better future. Look at the figure of 1.3 lakh houses. Even in national-level programs for PMAY, such a substantial number was unprecedented. I commend the Gujarat government,” Modi remarked.
In response to criticisms from the opposition regarding the alleged neglect of SCs, STs, and OBCs, Modi reaffirmed that the major beneficiaries of his government’s pro-poor initiatives are Dalits, OBCs, and tribals.
