Amidst the ongoing farmers’ protest, the Delhi Police (Northeast district) took action on Sunday by invoking CrPC Section 144. This measure primarily prohibits the assembly of individuals at the borders between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, as well as in nearby areas falling under the jurisdiction of Northeast Delhi. The implementation of Section 144 aims to prevent any potential disturbances and maintain law and order, according to officials.

The farmers have persistently protested against the government, advocating for a legislation ensuring a minimum support price (MSP), a key demand they had put forth during their agreement to end the protest against the now-repealed farm laws in 2021. Additionally, they are seeking employment opportunities. The farmers are gearing up for another demonstration scheduled for February 13.
