The Bihar assembly is poised for a crucial floor test scheduled for Monday, February 12, to determine the strength of the newly formed state government. This coalition government is led by Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), in collaboration with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAMS).

Formerly associated with the Mahagathbandhan alliance, Nitish Kumar chose to depart from the coalition, subsequently taking oath as the Bihar Chief Minister for an unprecedented ninth term on January 28, with the backing of the BJP. The forthcoming challenge for Kumar’s recently constituted cabinet involves undergoing a trust vote to demonstrate majority support from the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in the Bihar Assembly.
