Political tensions in Madhya Pradesh escalated on Saturday amid speculation surrounding senior Congress leader Kamal Nath’s potential move to join the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) alongside his son, Chhindwara MP Nakul Nath. Kamal Nath is currently in Delhi and is expected to meet with BJP leaders. Notably, Nakul Nath has removed any mention of Congress from his social media bio.
Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders have vehemently denied these reports, asserting that Kamal Nath has been a steadfast member of the party since the era of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, emphasizing that he would never abandon the Congress. Congress President Jitu Patwari went as far as referring to Kamal Nath as the third son of Indira Gandhi.
“When Kamal Nath contested elections for the first time, Indira Gandhi declared him her third son. Throughout Kamal Nath’s 45-year political journey, during both prosperous and challenging times, he has remained dedicated to the party. Over the past seven years, he has served as the Madhya Pradesh Congress chief. I recall when Scindia led to the downfall of the Congress government in MP, all Congress workers stood by Kamal Nath’s leadership and ideology. The circulating news is unfounded. Can one fathom Indira Gandhi’s supposed third son abandoning the Congress? Such thoughts are beyond imagination, even in dreams,” remarked Jitu Patwari.
