One day after the Central government proposed a minimum support price (MSP) for three pulses, maize, and cotton through cooperatives, Punjab farmer leaders, who have been protesting, rejected the offer on Monday evening. They announced the resumption of their ‘Dilli Chalo’ protest at 11 am on Wednesday, demanding a legal guarantee of MSP for all crops.

Jagjit Singh Dallewal, leader of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Sidhupur), stated that after thorough discussions on the Centre’s proposal, offered during a meeting with three Union ministers on Sunday night, they concluded that it was “not in favor” of the farmers. Dallewal emphasized their commitment to the demand for a legal guarantee for MSP on all 23 crops.

Sarvan Singh Pandher, the general secretary of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, declared that the ‘Dilli Chalo’ protest would resume on Wednesday at 11 am, with the farmers marching towards Delhi. He emphasized the farmers’ right to protest and urged the government to make decisions without the need for further meetings. Pandher also called for the opening of the Haryana-Punjab borders for their peaceful demonstration.
