On July 27th, a tragic incident occurred in Delhi’s Old Rajendra Nagar, where three students died due to flooding in the basement area of a coaching institute, Rau IAS Study Circle. The basement, used as a library, had a biometric system and was occupied by 30-35 students at the time. The incident was caused by a sewage pipe break, leading to a sudden influx of water, which suffocated the students.

This tragedy sparked protests against the coaching institute, the building owner, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, highlighting negligence in sewage management and sanitation. Concerns were raised about the safety of coaching centers operating in unsafe buildings without proper safety measures.

This incident follows other recent safety concerns, including the death of a student by electrocution in Patel Nagar and a major fire at a Mukherjee Nagar coaching center, where several students were injured. These events have intensified scrutiny over the safety standards and regulatory oversight of such educational institutions in Delhi.
