According to a recent report by NCRB on crimes in India, Kolkata which is capital of West Bengal emerged as safest city in the country for the third time in a row. According to NCRB in 2021 the city had recorded 103.4 cases of cognizable crimes which has been reduced to 86.5 this year. However, the city has recorded an increase in crimes against women from 1,783 cases 2021 to 1890 cases in 2022.
