In the mainstream history, Ramabai Bheemrao Ambedkar is known as wife of DR. BR Ambedkar but the personality of Ramabai was more than that. Ramabai was born on 7th February, 1898 in a Dalit family of Maharashtra. She lost her both parents at very early age. When Ramabai was married to Bhimrao at that time, her age was just 9 years and Bhimrao was 14. She has helped Bhimrao in his education. When Bhimrao Ambedkar went abroad, she single handily managed her children, due to lack of money and care she lost her four children among five, only one Jaswant was alive. In the book ‘Thoughts on Pakistan’ Bhimrao Ambedkar credited to Ramabai for his success, he wrote Ramabai has great contribution in making me Dr. Ambedkar from an ordinary Bhima. He dedicated that book to Ramabai Ambedkar. Today, Ambedkarites fondly remembers as Mata Ramai.
